MEAT

We love our chickens and are committed to the welfare of animals, but we're also carnivores and love our meat. We believe as a consumer, you don't need to pick one or the other. You can be an activist for the humane treatment of animals and recognize that meat is a necessary component of the human diet. That's why for 15 years, we've raised our own Cornish Cross Broiler chickens to be stored and consumed by our family over the year. It has been many, many years since we have bought poultry from the supermarket. We love the satisfaction of knowing where our meat comes from.

Our Broilers are bought as day-old chicks from Rural King and raised to full maturity, around 8 weeks. They are fed a premium non-GMO feed from Community Mills in Cassopolis, MI and are given access to the great outdoors starting at 4 weeks. After 8 weeks, they are taken to a small Amish farm in Nappanee, IN to be humanely processed for our consumption. The process from beginning to end is focused on giving these birds the best life possible, because they are giving us a very important gift: a nutritious protein source for our family. It only makes sense to give back to them for their gift.

Our farm raises a batch of ~50 Broilers every summer from June to August for our family, and we occasionally offer some extras for purchase for customers. We have never made selling meat into a part of our business, but it is in the works. We would love to share the gift of fresh chicken with our community.

We have already finished our summer batch for 2023 and currently have no meat available to sell, but depending on interest, we may raise a second batch in early spring. To learn more and possibly get on the list for this, please reach out to us.
