The humble egg: a food so simple, yet so paramount in this world. Eggs are one of the most popular animal products in the world because of their versatility. With a multitude of uses, eggs can be found in almost every fridge across America and beyond. They are a staple for the American breakfast, are considered a superfood packed with all the good stuff, and some folks even use them as part of a self-care regime (egg hair mask, anyone?). Consequently, the egg industry is one of the largest in the world. Sadly, commercial egg producers treat their laying hens poorly and inhumanely dispatch them once they pass their egg laying prime.
At our farm, we believe every animal deserves love. That's why our hens are treated with the utmost respect and dignity. They are allowed the whole property to free-range every day and are fed a diversified diet of a quality layer feed mixed with alfalfa and different treats to scratch and peck at. Once our hens get old and stop laying, they are given a lovely retirement and are allowed to live out their lives until their natural death. We do not believe in premature culling due to unproductiveness. At our farm, we make humane treatment of our chickens our top priority.
As a mixed-breed flock, we have many breeds living on the farm from your traditional brown-egg laying ISA Browns to the rare blue-egg laying Americanas. Your eggs will be multiple colors and sizes due to this. The kids love the color variety for the aesthetic aspect, and the adults love the size variety because they can choose the size egg that best suits their cooking needs for that time. We consider our gravitation away from uniformity to be an asset for this reason. Despite the difference in the outward appearance of each egg, we want to assure you this has no bearing on the quality of the egg itself--all your eggs will be the same on the inside as all the hens are fed the same diet.
Our hens' eggs are delicious because they're raised with love, truly. Buying eggs from us helps pay for their feed and other expenses associated with their care. We encourage you to try a dozen, or two, or three... we won't judge.
