Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Elisekaraman2001@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Absolutely nothing. Shell color has no bearing on the quality or flavor of the inside of the egg. Shell color is solely determined by the breed of hen. In general, hens with white earlobes and feet such as Leghorns lay white eggs, and hens with red earlobes and yellow feet like ISA Browns will be your brown egg layers. Some breeds like Easter Eggers lay green or blue eggs, and some heritage breeds like Orpingtons and Wyandottes lay cream or pink eggs. What determines the taste of an egg is the diet of the hen that laid it.

Those are called blood or meat spots. They are not harmful and simply a result of a hiccup in the hen’s reproductive tract. We have no control of this happening as it is random. While they are safe to cook in with the rest of the egg and eat, we understand they can be unpleasant. Using a fork or spoon to remove the spot or disposing of the egg are both understandable options.

Eggs from the supermarket are candled, or inspected, under a bright light to check for imperfections and abnormalities prior to being cartoned at the factory. Any eggs containing blood or meat spots are discarded.  We are a small farm and do not have the technology to do this.

Please text or call 574-440-9190 to inquire about availability, which depends on how productive the hens are at the time. You can always visit the roadside stand too.

Hours are 8AM to 8PM unless otherwise noted. Check our Facebook page for updates.

Before we officially decide to raise a batch of Broilers, we will advertise on our Facebook page to gauge interest. If we determine there is enough interest, we will take pre-orders through Facebook Messenger or direct contact with me at 574-440-9190 or Elisekaraman2001@gmail.com. In your pre-order request, please note the number of birds you would like and if you want them whole or parted. The cost is $18 and $21, respectively, and this only needs to be paid upon receiving the meat.

We are willing to deliver to residents in the cities of Edwardsburg, Cassopolis, and Niles MI; and Elkhart, Granger, Mishawaka, and South Bend, IN. We ask that residents of other cities meet at a predetermined halfway point for their eggs/meat.
